Spring is in the air!

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Well, it has been for a while now - and I'm not complaining about it! This week has been busy - Easter is always a fun time with family - and then on Monday we welcomed a box of baby chicks into our home :) What else can I say, they're adorable and soft...I could sit and watch them for hours I think. We have a few different kinds, so they are all different and they all keep busy pecking, poking, snoozing and repeating the routine.

Ahhh... routine, sometimes it seems like that's what I'm missing, and then at other times it seems that I get stuck too much in routine. Nature has its own routine and schedule - as do many parts of our lives. Babies crawl then walk (which we are also excited to be experiencing in our home as well!), children go to school and graduate, couples become engaged and then get married, families grow together and change, years pass and anniversaries become celebrations of a life built together, just to name a few.

And while a lot of times, life seems routine and common, I find myself wanting to hang on to and remember the simple, everyday moments. From the little things my kids say and do to silly things that happen throughout the day or how things develop during an entire season, like our garden or how our chicks grow to become a flock of full grown chickens that will soon be roaming around our yard (and probably into the neighbors from time to time). I take my camera everywhere, and sometimes I forget to take the time to take a picture - but when I remember, or when I take the time to get my family together I end up with some great shots and incredible memories. That is what I love - and what I love to do for others: help you preserve your special memories, share them with your family & friends and enjoy them for years to come!

many happy returns!

And finally it snows!

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Just a quick post to celebrate the long awaited snow! We've gotten dustings and a few decent storms, but its been a while. Now that its January, we're finally blessed with a chill in the air and snow on the ground. I say blessed because this is what January in Wisconsin should be - yes, 40's and 50's are VERY nice (you won't find me complaining!), and it was lovely to get out to the park with the boys yesterday - but remember folks, we've got SPRING for spring weather!

Anyway, enjoy today and drive safe!

Think Spring!

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Yep, I know its still the very first part of January, and while I happen to LOVE winter photography (there are many great reasons...its a beautiful time of year), this beautiful warm weather we're enjoying in Central Wisconsin today might have us mistakenly thinking Spring is just around the corner.

Thats not necessarily the case, but time sure flies and Spring will be here before we know it. Now is the time to think about when and where to schedule your Spring session. Whether you are thinking about Easter photos for the whole family, Mother's Day pictures of the kids (perhaps generations of the ladies in your life!) or Senior portraits for the grad-to-be next fall (Class of 2013!), start brainstorming now - or call for a pre-session consultation for ideas or to build your custom session.

Enjoy the day!

Happy New Year!

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Ahhh 2012 - cliche, but can you believe it? I hope with all the busy holiday preparations, decorating and family gatherings you were able to take a few moments to ponder the reason we celebrate and reflect on your blessings. For me, I've been blessed to enjoy more time at home with my family and that we're all healthy and happy. Kids grow up so fast, its a beautiful thing to enjoy them at every stage. I watch my oldest son, who is 3, and wonder when he became so smart, so big and so independent - yet he's still my cuddly little boy. I watch my younger son, who is 1, and wonder the same thing...well, that and just how much CAN he eat? Will he ever be full? My husband and I of course have our own resolutions, I should call them committments and perhaps they'd stick better, but baby steps, right?

Professionally, I'm looking foward to capturing beautiful moments for many lovely families this year. I also have some great specials up my sleeve - so check back often!

So anyway, I hope that 2012 finds all of us with a positive attitude for whats to come as we count our blessings for all that we have been given in 2011.
